In Praise of Ruins

Gushing a bit here, but why not. I'm so thrilled by the artwork for The Killing Moon. Daniele Serra is such an amazing artist. His work syncopates with a rich, arcane beauty that combines what Mary Shelley referred to as a "frisson of terror." He has a very singular talent, a lovely mix of Chagall, the light of Turner, the wonderfully idiosyncratic vision of Blake, and the mesmerizing quality of the Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood. His work really has what Rilke refers to as: "The hidden seeps, never to be sought." (https://www.danieleserra.com/) I especially like this painting, Ruins. Reminds me of a quote by Anselm Kiefer: "Ruins for me are the beginning."
